Storekeeper and MultiSafepay: Growth needs the right partner
For a platform that had been doubling in size every year, traditional payment partnerships weren't going to cut it. Long implementation timelines, rigid processes, extended negotiations – none of that works when you're scaling fast, and your merchants need solutions now, not next quarter.
When a legacy infrastructure transition became necessary in early 2024, they needed a partner who could move at their speed. MultiSafepay didn't hesitate.
One year later, we're empowering merchants together across the Netherlands and beyond and planning to keep expanding.
This is the story of what happens when two companies with the same growth-focused mindset find each other.
Built for merchants who think about growth
Storekeeper has a specific type of customer. Not the retailers looking for the most basic system they can find. Not the ones content with spreadsheets and manual processes.
Their merchants are the ones thinking about their next location. About expanding from 3 stores to 8. From 5 to 150. About optimizing operations and selling more, not just maintaining what they have.
Storekeeper was engineered on the foundation of Unified Commerce - that online and physical retail are not separate worlds, but a single, fluid customer experience. By designing a platform that serves as a single source of truth for multiple stores, POS terminals, and web shops, they ensure that growth never leads to operational fragmentation.
Which meant they needed a payment partner who saw things the same way.

When urgency meets opportunity
The relationship with MultiSafepay didn't start with a strategic review or a formal RFP. It started when Storekeeper needed to move fast.
They were scaling quickly and needed to transition merchants to infrastructure that could support their growth trajectory. But Storekeeper wasn't just looking for any payment provider — they had clear requirements from years of building unified commerce solutions. They needed seamless integration, autonomous terminal activation in minutes not days, and deep development support.
MultiSafepay had been in conversation with Storekeeper for years. When the moment came, everything accelerated because MultiSafepay ticked all the boxes.
Both platforms were architecturally ready for it. Terminal setup went from three days to three minutes. Over 100 merchants were onboarded in the first few weeks. And MultiSafepay's development team was there to troubleshoot and optimize alongside Storekeeper as they scaled.
What made the difference was having a Partner manager, Jurre Westhoff, who could execute under pressure. "The people at MultiSafepay really made the difference," William reflects. "If we'd just closed the deal and handed it off to someone else, we probably would have gone back to looking for alternatives within a month."
The small things that compound
The value of working closely together shows up in unexpected places.
Take terminals. Storekeeper keeps stock on hand and ships them directly when merchants need them. With MultiSafepay's platform, terminal activation and configuration happens autonomously in seconds. No support tickets, no manual provisioning. For Storekeeper's customers opening new locations on their own timeline, this seamless setup is the difference between moving fast and waiting around.
The shift to MultiSafepay hasn't just been about better hardware logistics. It's about what payments can enable when platforms are built to work together.
What merchants actually care about
This streamlined approach extends beyond hardware to how merchants think about payments themselves.
Storekeeper has learned that most of their merchants don't focus heavily on negotiating payment rates for online transactions. What they care about is reconciliation that's already handled, accounting integrations that just work, and reporting they don't have to manually compile.
"Payments by themselves aren't valuable anymore — they're a commodity," William explains. "But if you want to differentiate, you need to be there in the merchant's convenience."
That's why working closely with MultiSafepay to continually improve onboarding, streamline terminal setup, and deepen the technical connection creates compounding value through shared accountability, both teams taking ownership of the merchant experience from first contact to ongoing operations.
"The quality of the initial onboarding defines the trajectory of the entire partnership," William observes.
By prioritizing seamless transitions, Storekeeper and MultiSafepay establish a foundation of operational trust. This commitment to out-of-the-box excellence ensures technology becomes an invisible enabler, allowing merchants to focus entirely on scaling their business.

Growth feeding growth
Storekeeper has doubled in size each of the last two years. They're planning to quadruple next year.
Some of that growth is new merchants. But a lot of it is existing merchants scaling up. The fashion retailer going from one location to 20. The enterprise customer who casually mentions they've opened a new branch and handled the entire setup themselves.
With a strong presence already established in the Netherlands and existing customers in Germany, Storekeeper is now focused on expanding into Belgium. MultiSafepay growing right alongside them.
The roadmap ahead is ambitious. Tap to Pay on NFC Android devices will let merchants accept payments directly on their phones. Terminal provisioning will become completely self-service. And merchant onboarding will get even tighter integration, removing friction from day one.
Why it works
Ask William what he values most about working with MultiSafepay, and he doesn't talk about features or pricing.
"When things go wrong, we communicate. That's what matters."
It's not that problems don't happen. It's that when they do, both teams show up with solutions, not excuses. No finger-pointing. No hiding behind contract terms. Just here's the issue, here's how we fix it.
This working style made it possible to migrate hundreds of merchants during a crisis period. And it continues to drive improvements, from streamlining merchant onboarding to enabling complete self-service terminal setup.
"We really want to work tight together, deeply integrated," says William. Because when both companies are aligned on helping merchants grow, technical challenges become easier to solve, processes become easier to improve, and the entire merchant experience becomes smoother.
What's next
Storekeeper has an ambitious goal to help 100,000 retailers across Europe by 2030. Not just selling them software but genuinely removing the technology hurdles that slow them down.
"We want to avoid the spreadsheets, avoid the technical integrations, to just make it work out-of-the-box," says William.
As Storekeeper's merchants continue opening locations, launching channels, and bringing in other merchants through their success stories, MultiSafepay is right there scaling alongside them.
Because the best partnerships are about showing up, communicating when things get hard, and building something better together.
