EU Cookie law eased

05/26/2013

The Minister of Economic Affairs will adjust the so-called cookie law. Soon internet users will no longer need to provide permission for the use of analytics cookies, provided that data collected is not shared with third parties.

The first version of the amended law is expected to be ready later this month. It will then be available for feedback until next autumn. It is currently unclear how use of third party analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, will be affected by the proposed changes.

With the proposed changes the government hopes to reduce the number of pop windows requesting permission to use cookies for services that do not affect user privacy.
